Philadelphia Insurance Companies launched PHLY TankEAS on August 24, quoting admitted storage tank environmental policies in under ten minutes. Its brochure excludes single-walled tanks 25 years and older from the streamlined path, pushing those owners to surplus lines.

Indiana has reimbursed half the cost of closing or replacing more than 500 aging underground tanks, spending $21 million of $80 million available. The fund has never used its full annual allotment, and IDEM is openly asking for more applications.

DOEE has reproposed rescinding the requirement that USTs over 30 years old be removed, replacing it with triennial tank tightness testing and permanent closure within one year of any failure. Comments closed July 26 and final action is pending.
